Finding Stillness in a Full Life
There’s something sacred about the moments we almost rush past—the ones between the busy, the scheduled, the next thing on the list. Today, I had one of those moments. And it reminded me how much I need them.
Before I pulled up our driveway this afternoon, I took a minute—maybe two—to stop and take it all in. I looked out across the pasture at our small herd of mama cows, now joined by two sweet new calves. The sun was starting to dip low, casting that golden light that always makes me giddy. There was a breeze—gentle, warm, and refreshing.
I let go of the to-do list. I didn’t think about what needed to be unloaded from the car or what tomorrow held. I simply sat there in the quiet and let the view of the Bijou Basin take me away. For the first time in a while I didn’t feel pulled.
I felt completely present.
It wasn’t long—just a couple of minutes—but it was enough. The rest of the evening went back till busy, full, loud and eventful. I wouldn’t say it was refreshing, but it was special in the most #hazenhomestead kind of way.
Our life is full. It’s good and rich and overflowing with things to do and activities we love. But even in all that fullness, there’s a quiet rhythm underneath it all that I don’t want to miss.
Today reminded me that peace doesn’t always come in long stretches. Sometimes, it only takes a minute of stillness to remember what really matters.
I’m grateful for this season—for the life we’re building, for the beauty just outside the window, and for the quiet, fleeting moments that remind me to slow down and breathe.
May your schedule be full, but your heart be fuller.
